University of Surrey Diploma and Degree courses for teachers: The University of Surrey, the English Language Institute offers a Postgraduate Diploma/MA in Linguistics (TESOL) for language teachers, and a Postgraduate Diploma/M.Sc. in English Language Teaching Management for teachers who opt for a management career track. The Diplomas, MA and M.Sc. are run on a distance learning basis with no residence requirements, and the programmes boast students from all over the world. We have a growing number of research students, working towards the degrees of MPhil & PhD . We also run a number of short courses for teachers which are usually designed for specific clients.

TESOL has over 80 affiliates worldwide, with 43 in the United States. There are also 19 interest sections (special interest groups) within TESOL; each member is entitled to membership in up to three interest sections, with topics ranging from intercultural communications to applied linguistics to ESOL in bilingual education. Each IS referees and sponsors a range of sessions at the annual convention -- schedules from 1998 are available online.
